Gallup-McKinley County Schools (GMCS) Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Jvanna Hanks as Interim Superintendent, effective 03/02/2026. The Board reached this decision with a unanimous 5-0 vote during its meeting on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
With over 23 years of experience in GMCS, Ms. Hanks most recently served as Deputy Superintendent for GMCS. The Board selected Ms. Hanks for her dedication to student achievement, proven track record of fiscal management, and deep commitment to our community’s values.

"The Board’s unified support for Ms. Hanks reflects our collective confidence in her ability to provide stability and clear vision during this transition.
