HLC Sophomores Explore Career Opportunities at GMCS Student Support Center
On Thursday, October 22, 2026, 10th-grade HLC students from TOH traveled to the GMCS Student Support Center to participate in a career exploration fair, where they had the opportunity to learn from inspiring professionals who shared their personal journeys, experiences, and career paths.
Students visited with various presenters, including Miss Navajo Nation, an engineer from Los Alamos National Laboratory, a team member from Four Corners Detox Center, and local business owners. Presenters shared their experiences, career journeys, and inspirations while emphasizing the importance of serving their communities, caring for physical and mental well-being, and pursuing their goals with dedication and perseverance.
Each presenter embodied the Diné philosophy of T’áá Hwi Ajit’éégo, demonstrating the importance of self-determination, perseverance, and taking personal responsibility for one's journey and future. Through their stories, students were encouraged to recognize their own potential and explore the many pathways available to them.
Looking ahead, HLC sophomores will have the opportunity to showcase their own career research projects in April 2027 at the districtwide HLC Cultural Fair, “Native Excellence: Inspiring the Next Generation Fair.” This upcoming event will celebrate students’ learning, aspirations, and commitment to pursuing their goals while honoring the cultural values that guide them.
